
Adele Mara (April 28, 1923 to May 7 10th, 2010), was an American singer, actress and dancer who appeared in films in the 1940s, 1950s, and in television during the 1950s, 1960s and then later. Adele St. Mara was her professional name. She received a contract from Columbia Pictures[citation needed.And she gained experience in the studio's comedy shorts , as well as "B" films. The name was then changed to Adele Mara. Mara was receptionist in Three Stooges' film I Can Hardly Wait. Mara Brooks and Leslie Brooks portrayed the sisters in the character of Rita Hayworth in Fred Astaire's film You Were Never Lovelier. Brooks is the female lead part in Alias Boston Blackie (1942) as the sister of an wrongly charged and released convict. When her Columbia contract expired, she moved to Republic Pictures, where she became a fixture in the studio's westerns as well as outdoor adventures. She was a part in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch featuring John Wayne, Angel in Exile (leading lady), Sands of Iwo Jima with John Wayne in which she was John Agar's love-interest, California Passage (leading lady) as well as Don Siegel's Count the Hours (supporting role).
